“People, this man changed my life. He opened my eyes to a reality I never knew existed.”

Behind the story

The quote is from Randy Jackson, who’s band Zebra was at the height of its popularity in the early 1980s and was mentioned in my acknowledgements in The Sixth Sun. When I met him at a meet and greet after a Zebra show I gave him a signed copy of The Sixth and showed hm the quote in the book.

When I met him again at a 50-person solo acoustic show I was called onto stage. He had my book in his bag next to his stool, took it out and said, “People, this man changed my life. He opened my eyes to a reality I never knew existed.” Then he let me go back to my seat.

The next time I saw him, again at a small venue, I told him about Gaia Rising. He gave me his phone number to text him once it’s out.

That’s an example of what I mean. I strive to expand the reader’s horizons.

I have read Ted Barber’s novel The Sixth Sun. It was hard to put down, a page turner. Looking forward to his next alternate future book, Gaia Rising.

Ted Barber looks at events of the world from the colonization efforts of another race similar to Earth’s. During the guidance, five natural disasters have occurred, but mankind had continued. As missions from this planet continued to help mankind, legends of gods were born, monuments built, and stories laid down.

The sixth mission, has been sent, but now mankind has the ability to look deep into space itself. And the answers to success of the mission look to the next 4000 years of history.
Interesting and entertaining. If one has any knowledge of the history of mankind over the last 4000-6000 years you come to recognize very quickly how well the novel captures man’s, not only folly, but predictability. Even a cursory look at the geopolitical, economic and environmental situation in the world today suggests that this author has it right. Religion, politics, power and greed has in the past, is currently and will continue to create unrest, divide and ultimately doom mankind to war, the defense of opposing ideologies, the fight for survival at all cost and the inability to live in harmony. Man, more than any other species on earth is an ideologically driven, aggressive and waring creature. This book provides a brief history of man over several thousand years and a 4000+ year tale of the rise and progression of mankind after a major natural disaster and the enormous influence of gods and religion on mankind’s actions and beliefs. It covers a lot of time and involves an extensive array of characters. Overall an interesting and highly recommended book.
